AEPROMO’s bilingual (Spanish-English), scientific, specialized, and official publication, “Ozone Therapy Global Journal,” acquired the right to assign a unique identification number to all articles published since its first issue in 2011. This permanent identification will facilitate citations and strengthen the publication for future scientific, documentary, and visibility improvements.
The unique identifier number for each of the 248 published articles is called DOI (Digital Object Identifier). It is a unique and permanent alphanumeric code assigned to digital documents to unambiguously identify them on the internet, regardless of whether their web address changes.
It works similarly to how the ISBN (International Standard Book Number) identifies printed books or a national identity document (DNI in Spain or identity documents with different names in other countries).
It’s not just about adding an identifier number or a link to each article, but about ensuring that each record has its data correctly structured, is locatable, and is permanently linked to the journal.
With the DOI, papers can be accessed exactly as before, with the improvement that the full text will be viewed using the new DOI-compatible system.
The journal had to perform technical and digital tasks
To achieve this major objective of personalized identification for each article published by the journal, AEPROMO had to undertake a significant and profound technical restructuring of the journal, which included:
- The complete assembly and configuration of this new scientific engine, compatible with Crossref requirements (Crossref “runs open infrastructure to link research objects, entities, and actions—creating a lasting and reusable scholarly record that underpins open science.” https://www.crossref.org/
- Manual migration and upload of each article in the volume with its corresponding metadata, abstracts, and bilingual proofs.
- Auditing and correction of the platform, such as citation and bibliography checks, to ensure the system validates the issue without errors.
