The Palma Aquarium Foundation in the Balearic Islands (Spain) “has incorporated ozone therapy into the treatment of wounds on sea turtles cared for at its Sea Turtle Recovery Center—a new tool aimed at promoting healing and tissue regeneration in the animals.”
Its application helps injured sea turtles return to their natural habitat.
The treatment involves using ozone-enriched, bio-distilled water, which is applied topically to affected areas to foster healing and tissue regeneration.
Medical-grade ozone is already being successfully used on turtles housed at the center, with the goal of enabling them to recover from their injuries and return to the wild.
The introduction of medical-grade ozone was made possible by a donation from the Gil Mast family.
The donation enabled the Palma Aquarium Foundation to acquire the “Ozonette” medical device for the use of medical ozone. This Spanish-made unit bears the CE mark—a mandatory designation indicating that the product meets the essential requirements established by the European Union.
