• At the invitation of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies, Cmbo (Brazilian Medical College of Ozone Therapy) participated in a technical visit to learn about ozone therapy public services of Portugal.
  • The Brazilian Chamber of Deputies is analyzing a bill authorizing the use of ozone therapy as a complementary medical procedure. The bill had been previously approved by the Senate.
  • The visit to Portugal took place on January 17 y 18, 2019

Cmbo (Brazilian Medical College of Ozone Therapy) president Dr. Wendy Falzoni sent to IMEOF the following story about this visit.

On the 17 and 18th of January 2019 a Brazilian commission visited Portugal. It was composed of more than 10 members of the Brazilian Congress, including:

Congressman Mr. Odorico Monteiro.

Congressman Mr. Aexandre Sefiotis.

Congresswomen Miss. Carmem Zanotto.

Congressman Mr. Diego Garcia.

Congressman Mr. Eduardo Barbosa.

Congressman Mr. Rubens Carneiro.

Also took part f this visit among others:

Arnoldo de Souza,M.D.- President of the Brazilian Association of Ozone Therapy – ABOZ.

Antonio Waldir Bezerra Cavalcanti Teixeira , M.D. Vice–President of ABOZ.

Wendy Falzoni, M.D – President of Colégio Médico Brasileiro de Ozonioterapia – CMBO.

The commission visited Hospital Garcia de Orta in Almada – Portugal and Hospital Fernando da Fonseca in Sintra – Portugal. At these two hospitals their principals had a meeting with us together with the physicians responsible for the ozone department. We also visited the Portuguese Medical College (Ordem dos Médicos).

In all the visits the members of the commission were encouraged to ask about the legal issues of ozone therapy in Portugal as well as the application of ozone therapy and its benefits to the patients.

During this visit it was very clear to the Brazilian commission how beneficial ozone therapy is and how they were able to have ozone therapy considered legal in Portugal for medical use not only in private practice but also at public hospitals.

Ozone therapy has been considered a legal procedure for medical use in Portugal since April 24th 2013 with the passing of the Ordinance 163/2013.

This International visit was one more step brilliantly organized by ABOZ with CMBO support to have ozone therapy recognized as an important and beneficial therapy to our patients in Brazil.

Wendy Falzoni, M.D – President of Colégio Médico Brasileiro de Ozonioterapia – CMBO.

It worth remembering that Brazilian Senate passed a bill in 2017 authorizing the use of ozone therapy as a complementary medical procedure.

The bill was sent to the Chamber of Deputies where the Social Security and Family Commission is still evaluating it; and one of the initiatives towards the approval of the bill was to visit Portugal. This country is one of the 13 in the world that has regularized ozone therapy.

This therapy has been authorized in Portugal and is being practiced in both the public and private sector, In addition it is reimbursed by the social security system.
